Coloring Guidance: the Petunias from Beautiful Nature

Picture
Tips from Jones Flores for Coloring the Petunias
Getting the white to stand out:
  • Dark Thin Outline - helps the white to stand out.
  • White Thin Outline - creates the bright reflection of light.
  • White Ink (Dabbed) - use a dry paintbrush to blend or smooth the ink. This creates an embossed effect, making the image 3D.
  • Dark THICK Outline - OVERDOING it! Make sure your outlines are thin.
  • White Thin Lines - on the small leaves gives it details and a realistic effect.
To achieve color depth and vibrance:
  • Apply MULTIPLE LAYERS.
  • PRISMACOLORS = Pink, Light Peach, Poppy Red, Process Red, Mulberry, Parma Violet & White.
  • Burnishing = Applying the pencil with hard push/heavy coloring.
  • Blending = Mixing of colors by light strokes, blending tool or by burnishing.
  • After Burnishing = Add a layer of Pink Gel Pen and blend with a dry paintbrush.
