3 Steps to Vibrant Tulips

Color list is for Faber Castell Polychromos colored pencils.
Step 1: Build Multiple Layers
(Use Light Pressure)
1st layer: White on the lightest areas.
2nd layer: Pink Madder Lake targeting the light & medium gray areas.
3rd layer: Rose Carmine on medium gray areas.
4th layer: Middle Purple Pink on medium and dark gray areas.

Details
Purple Violet & Mauve on the dark lines on the petals.
For stems and leaves follow below format:
  • Light Green: lightest area
  • Leaf Green: light and medium area
  • Juniper Green: medium and dark area
  • Deep Cobalt Green: dark area
  • Black: darkest area to increase contrast
Step 2: Burnish
(Use Medium Pressure)
  • Pink Madder Lake to burnish on the medium gray areas of the petals.
  • Middle Purple Pink to burnish on the dark gray areas. 
  • Leaf Green to burnish the stems

Step 3: Gel Pen Smudge Trick
Apply Pink gel pen on top of burnished area of the petal and smudge it using a small paint brush or cotton buds.
Apply on a small area then smudge quickly before the ink dries. The vibrant color of the gel pen will increase the color value.
